WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 26, 2011) –Today, the House Energy and Commerce Committee approved H.R. 908, the “Full Implementation of the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Act” with bipartisan support.
In response to this important vote, American Chemistry Council (ACC) President and CEO Cal Dooley issued the following statement:
“The bipartisan chemical security legislation approved today will provide for continued protection of employees and communities as well as a vital sector of the nation’s economy. We commend Chairmen Fred Upton and John Shimkus along with Congressmen Gene Green and Tim Murphy for their leadership and thank the other members of the committee for their work.”
Since 2001, ACC members have helped lead the way on chemical security, investing more than $8 billion on facility security enhancements under ACC’s Responsible Care® Security Code, which has become a model for the industry and regulatory programs.
