Conference Speakers Highlight Polyurethane’s 75th Anniversary, Latest Industry News and Trends

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 9, 2012) – As the chemical industry celebrates 75 years of polyurethane, speakers at the 2012 Polyurethanes Technical Conference will both honor its history and discuss the latest developments that will impact the global outlook for years to come. Hosted by the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), this year’s conference will take place Sept. 24 to 26 at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta.

ACC President and CEO Calvin M. Dooley will deliver the keynote address at this year’s opening session. Dooley will discuss the latest news and trends in today’s chemical industry, including ACC’s advocacy work on chemical regulation reform and energy policy.

“We are honored to have Cal Dooley speak at this year’s conference and offer his insight into the latest chemical industry trends,” said Lee Salamone, Senior Director of CPI. “With our keynote address and throughout the entire conference, attendees have a very special opportunity to hear about the latest developments in chemistry, technology and products from industry leaders and experts from around the world.”

“The polyurethanes industry is a prime example of the way chemistry provides innovative solutions for both everyday needs and the serious challenges of our day, like energy efficiency,” said Dooley. “I look forward to being a part of the Polyurethanes Technical Conference in Atlanta and helping the industry mark its 75th year.”

Also during the opening session, attendees will hear from CPI Senior Director Lee Salamone and 2012 Conference Committee Chair Amanda Pugh, who will officially open the conference and introduce this year’s Innovation Award finalists. CPI Steering Committee Chair Steve Snead-Smith will also provide an update on the latest CPI activities.

Featuring more than 55 technical presentations, this year’s Polyurethanes Technical Conference will feature the latest research, technical developments and business issues affecting the global polyurethane industry.
