WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 13, 2011) – The following statement can be attributed to Kathryn St. John of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) regarding the release of chemical action plans today by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on diisocyanates.
“We look forward to a productive exchange with EPA on the action plans released today and will use this opportunity to further build upon our ongoing constructive relationship with the agency. While working with EPA over many months, we have enhanced product stewardship programs to further improve the safe use of spray polyurethane foam. We will continue to request EPA to prioritize chemicals for action plans based on scientific criteria that reflect available hazard, use and exposure information provided to the agency so that there is a systematic, science-based approach to chemicals management.”
