COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 6, 2012) – The American Chemistry Council (ACC) approved at its annual board meeting today the membership of Nanofilm of Valley Stream, Ohio, a manufacturer of optically clear, ultra-thin coatings, nanocomposites and surfactant products. Also approved today were four product and market sector groups, four Affiliate member companies, three Associate member companies and four Responsible Care® Partner companies. The membership expansion affirms ACC’s position as the largest association representing the interests of the chemical industry value chain, from manufacturing to disposal.

“Our membership growth in market sectors integral to chemical manufacturing interests is a sound vote of confidence in ACC’s ability to deliver bottom line value in what remains a turbulent business, regulatory and political environment,” said Cal Dooley, ACC’s President and CEO. “It’s critical that today’s policymakers understand the scale and scope of the economic and societal contributions our industry makes—both directly and indirectly,” he added. “The addition of our value chain partners continues to strengthen our ability to provide exceptional advocacy at all levels of government.”

Including those approved today, ten regular members, nineteen new product groups, four Affiliate members and six Associate members have joined ACC in the last year alone.

“Our members recognize that the vitality of our industry depends on our ability to develop common sense policy that drives innovation, creates jobs and enhances safety,” said Dooley. “The business of chemistry is one of the most interconnected and these new members will immediately begin to realize the return on their investment by engaging with their customers, clients, suppliers and partners as they work toward shared policy and business objectives.”

The new chemical product and sector groups will be managed by ACC’s Chemical Products and Technology (CPT) division, which provides comprehensive issue management services including regulatory, legislative and marketplace advocacy; research; legal; and communication services. With these additions, the division currently supports more than sixty self-funded groups. The groups approved today include:

  • Nickel Value Chain Coalition
  • Rare Earth Materials
  • Benzophene HPV Test Rule Consortium
  • PDMA HPV Test Rule Consortium

  • Pump Solutions Group, A Dover Company, of Glen Ridge, N.J.
  • The Plaza Group, Inc., of Houston, Texas
