Silicones are a family of specialty, high performance materials. The silicone family includes silicones, siloxanes and silanes, all of which are widely used in thousands of products and provide essential benefits to key segments of our economy, including: health care, aerospace, personal care, electronics, transportation and construction.

To build on more than 30 years of research and advocacy done by the Silicones Environmental, Health, and Safety Council and its member companies, the Silicones Environmental, Health, and Safety Center will begin at the American Chemistry Council (ACC) in January 2013 as a new product sector group. The new ACC group will be known as SEHSC.

SEHSC will also be involved in public policy issues related to silicone materials and will promote the safe use of silicones through product stewardship and environmental, health and safety research.
