Wild & Crazy Helmet Day 

Standard*: G.4.1: Know that art communicates ideas.

Objective: Students will design and decorate a helmet to reflect a personal theme or idea.

Materials:

  • Hardhat, bike or other sport helmet.
  • Assortment of decoration materials.

Activity: Students will decorate their helmet to reflect themselves. The decoration may be theme centered, or just a conglomerate of wild and craziness. All students will wear their helmets on “Crazy Helmet Day” at school. Encourage home and parent participation.

Assessment: Journal Reflection:

  • How did you decide to decorate your helmet?
  • What was the theme of your helmet?
  • Did you enjoy decorating your helmet? Did anyone help you?
  • How did you feel about participating in “Crazy Helmet Day”?
  • Draw and color a picture of your helmet.
