small business membership
ACC’s membership is diverse and we recognize that the needs of a smaller company are sometimes different than that of a multi-national corporation. We work hard to ensure that our smaller member companies (generally 500 employees and less) have a forum for senior executives of these companies to share with each other, ACC and other members of the Association, views and information on priority issues affecting them specifically.
For example, because smaller companies have fewer in-house resources available, we help smaller companies monitor and comply with new regulatory requirements, and identify useful industry practices. Focus areas include:
- Compliance assistance
- Regulatory and legislative monitoring
- Benchmarking
- Education
In addition, new regulatory requirements can create disproportionate financial and administrative impact on smaller companies. Through its large operational scale, in-house staff resources, and regional offices, ACC’s is uniquely positioned to advocate on priority issues of concern to smaller companies and the chemical industry.
To encourage smaller companies to join ACC, ACC offers small companies a three-year waiver on ACC membership dues for Responsible Care® implementation. Responsible Care is a marketable business asset for our members and it is a strong component of the ACC membership value proposition. During this dues waiver period, ACC will provide direct Responsible Care program support to its smaller members, including:
- Pre-membership readiness assessments
- Formal mentoring
- Regional support networks
- Benchmarking
- More active ACC outreach and staff support

“ACC is committed to expanding its membership base and meeting the needs of small and medium sized companies. I see the dues-waiver as a way to enhance the effectiveness of our advocacy by getting more Small Business Council (SBC) members involved, and broadening the adoption of our Responsible Care program.” Cal Dooley “I find tremendous value in SBC membership—the networking, advocacy and informational resources available through ACC membership are especially useful for smaller companies.” Tom Shepherd “Small and medium sized companies carry tremendous clout in Washington as well as state capitals, which are of particular focus for ACC.” Sunil Kumar |
