About Diisocyanates Panel

Chartered in 1988, the Diisocyanates Panel monitors impending regulations, legislation, and other initiatives affecting the production or use of diisocyanates, including methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and toluene diisocyanate (TDI), and develops appropriate responses. The Panel also sponsors research on the potential health effects of MDI and TDI. The Panel's activities include the following:

  • Participating in rulemaking proceedings and submission of comments on proposed regulations impacting TDI and MDI;
  • Initiating of advocacy to address regulatory requirements that do not appear to be supported by the available scientific data; and
  • Communicating with regulators and others to improve the accuracy and reliability of data characterizations that may otherwise lead to future inappropriate actions; and
  • Working with government health agencies to study potential health consequences of diisocyanate exposures.
