MISSION AND VALUE
The American Chemistry Council (ACC) is the nation’s largest trade association representing the business of chemistry at the global, national and state levels.
Our mission is to deliver business value to ACC members through exceptional advocacy based on enhanced member performance, high quality scientific research, communications, effective participation in the political process, and a commitment to sustainable development through member contributions to economic, environmental and societal progress.
ACC advocates for sound government policy that helps our members to remain competitive and generates recognition for the essential nature of American chemistry. Our success is supported by a number of vital programs that contribute to improved industry performance, demonstrate sustainability and showcase a track record of improving the industry’s reputation globally.
The Council’s CHEMTREC® 24-hour HAZMAT Communications Center, Responsible Care® and Long-Range Research Initiatives are signature programs that our members identify as offering exceptional business value.
Membership brings with it important business opportunities and information, including meetings and networking, economics, statistics, publications and a special forum responding to the needs of smaller companies.
WHO CAN JOIN ACC?
In general, companies which as a significant portion of their businesses manufacture chemicals in the U.S. or which manufacture chemicals abroad but sell them in the U.S., are eligible for ACC membership. A list of ACC members is available at the following link (ACC members).
In addition, companies within the chemical industry value chain, and industry service providers may also join ACC through ACC’s Affiliate and Associate member programs.
In 2010 ACC embarked on a program to expand membership and enhance member value.
Specifically, the new initiative provides additional incentive for smaller companies to join ACC by offering three years of dues relief to help them pay for Responsible Care implementation while giving them the benefits of ACC membership.
