Lisa B. Harrison


Vice President of Communications

 

As Vice President of Communications, Ms. Harrison is responsible for developing a broad strategic communications and marketing strategy to enhance the Council’s mission. She oversees the advocacy communications campaign, develops plans for member and issue communications and media relations, and builds effective relationships with media and opinion leaders. 

 

Ms. Harrison brings more than 24 years of public relations, communications and media relations experience with her. Prior to joining ACC, she served in a politically-appointed position in the Bush Administration, as Director of Communications and Special Assistant to the Director at the National Park Service in the U.S. Department of the Interior, where she was responsible for developing a strategic communications messaging program and executed a number of national media and marketing campaigns.

 

Previously she served as Press Secretary and Assistant Associate Administrator for Public Affairs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)—also a political appointment—where she was Chief Spokesperson, Communications Strategist, and Manager of the Public Affairs staff for former EPA Administrator Christine Todd Whitman, among others.

 

For 18 years, Ms. Harrison also worked on Capitol Hill as Communications Director and Deputy Chief of Staff for former U.S. Sen. Bob Smith (R-NH), who was Chairman of the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and a ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. She was responsible for his entire press and communications operation and helped manage his committee efforts on resource, environment and energy-related initiatives. In addition, she served as Campaign Manager on a number of his successful re-election campaigns where she coordinated advertising, grassroots, media and volunteer efforts.

 

Ms. Harrison received her bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire.
