Vice President of Federal Affairs
As Vice President of Federal Affairs, Mr. Durbin is responsible for directing federal legislative advocacy. His responsibilities include coordination of direct lobbying, coalition building and management, and directing ACC’s political programs to advance the Council’s priority advocacy objectives.
Mr. Durbin has been with ACC for eight years. He first led ACC’s Security program where he was responsible for policy development, advocacy, communications and operational activities of the association as they relate to site-, cyber-, and value-chain security for the business of chemistry. In 2005 he was made Managing Director of Federal Affairs.
Prior to ACC’s merger with the American Plastics Council (APC) in 2001, Mr. Durbin was Director of Federal and International Affairs with APC where he was responsible for federal legislative and regulatory matters. He also coordinated strategy and activities with counterpart organizations around the world.
Before joining APC, Mr. Durbin worked on Capitol Hill as a Legislative Assistant for members in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives where his responsibilities involved environment and energy-related issues.
Mr. Durbin received his bachelor’s degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland.
