The American Chemistry Council (ACC) encourages the development of toxicity, exposure and health information about the products of chemistry as part of its Responsible Care® commitment to conduct product stewardship.  As part of our industry’s longstanding commitment to work with the scientific community and governments to develop the scientific foundation for risk-based decision making, the business of chemistry is committed to promoting objective science and methodologies needed to interpret toxicity, exposure and epidemiology data in risk-based processes.  We do this through programs that promote worker and consumer health and safety in our businesses, through the actions of individual companies and sector groups, (including work on High Production Volume chemicals), and through collaborative research.  The ACC Long-Range Research Initiative has made significant investment to enhance the scientific foundations of risk assessment, and will continue to do so.

Protecting our children's health and well-being is a fundamental value the chemical industry shares with society.

Endocrine Disruption
ACC is engaged with the scientific community and government agencies in a broad effort to understand the potential of chemicals to interact with the endocrine system and cause adverse health and ecological effects at environmentally relevant exposure levels.

Risk Assessment
For over three decades the American Chemistry Council and its member companies have played an active role in screening and testing chemical substances, developing risk assessments and implementing science-based risk management policies. The Council’s long-standing perspective is to advocate and support governmental and private sector development of scientific data to improve the accuracy and relevance of risk assessments.
