Purpose

The Solvents Industry Group is a trade group of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), which represents the leading companies engaged in the business of chemistry. The Solvents Industry Group was created in 1995 to address health, safety and environmental issues that affect producers, distributors and users of modern hydrocarbon and oxygenated organic solvents. The group supports scientific research, participates in regulatory activities pertaining to solvents and works to ensure that solvents continue to be recognized as important components of a wide range of products that help make our lives safer and healthier, yet meet the challenges of today’s environmentally conscious world.

The Solvents Industry Group is comprised of six of the leading oxygenated and hydrocarbon solvent manufacturers in the U.S. They are: The Dow Chemical Company; Eastman Chemical Company; ExxonMobil Chemical Company; Shell Chemical Company; Sasol North America and CITGO Petroleum Corporation. The first five of these companies are also members of the American Chemistry Council. Detailed company contact information is provided under “Member Companies” in this section.
