Improving the security of technology products and services is an important and ongoing part of the Cyber Security Program. The Cyber Security Program works closely with IT and manufacturing system product and service providers through its Affiliate Membership program. Additionally, the Cyber Security Program works with technology providers that are addressing manufacturing system security technology issues that impact other industries as well as the chemical industry in a variety of external organizations. These include ISA, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Process Control Systems Security Forum (PCSF), Idaho National Laboratory (INL) Control Systems Security Center, and others.
The Cyber Security Program provides a venue for technology providers that serve the chemical industry and chemical company security experts to work together. Through their combined efforts, they define and prioritize security technology issues important to the chemical sector, share experiences and industry practices regarding solutions, and provide guidance on desired projects and solutions for the chemical industry. By working with technology providers through the Information Technology team and the Manufacturing and Control Systems Security team, chemical companies are well-positioned to enhance the security of products and solutions they rely on to conduct business, expedite the development and implementation of improved products and solutions, and heighten the safety and security of the sector's highly integrated operations.
Sharing experiences about security technologies in use in the sector and working with technology providers to improve solutions will continue to carry great importance as more applications and systems are introduced. The Cyber Security Program will continue to demonstrate its commitment to this critical element in enhancing the sector's cyber security stature by addressing the industry's security technology needs as they evolve.
