Central to the Cyber Security Program's success is widespread awareness, acceptance, and adoption of cyber security practices and guidance across the chemical industry. The Cyber Security Program has taken a number of steps to drive sector-wide adoption.
Working through the Chemical Sector Coordinating Council's trade associations, the Program is continuing to focus on advocating and sustaining adoption of cyber security practices and guidance. The Cyber Security Program offers chemical companies a number of resources that can be put to work to begin evaluating a company's cyber security posture. The Cyber Security Program has a number of teams working to support its vision of sector-wide adoption.
- Communication Materials and Outreach Team – Develops materials to communicate cyber security awareness and preparedness messages to the chemical sector
- European Networking and Implementation Team – Provides networking opportunities on cyber security topics of specific interest to the European community
Broad participation among companies in all segments of the sector is required to elevate our industry's cyber security preparedness and performance. It is important for all companies – large, medium, and small – to take appropriate steps to enhance their cyber security stature. As companies begin implementing cyber security guidance and tools and start using information sharing capabilities, we can move closer to our goal of having more chemical companies view cyber security as an intrinsic part of a company's overall security program.
