Guidance Enhancement and Relevance


Sector-wide practices and standards are key to enabling the protection, integrity, and availability of information and ensuring business continuity within the chemical sector. The Cyber Security Program offers chemical companies access to guidance and tools that can be used to evaluate and elevate the security performance of their information technology (IT) and manufacturing system environments.

The Cyber Security Program will periodically review and assess existing guidance documents to evaluate their relevancy within the current cyber security landscape. As new technology capabilities and solutions emerge, the Cyber Security Program may enhance existing guidance documents or create new ones to address emerging technology needs.

A variety of outside industry organizations are working to develop practices and standards for IT and manufacturing systems security. Cyber Security Program Manufacturing and Control Systems Security Team members participate in many of these external organizations, contributing chemical sector insights to cross industry efforts. As the sector's cyber security needs evolve, so will the Cyber Security Program. Through the development of guidance, enhancements to existing guidance and participation in the development of cyber security standards, the Cyber Security Program is positioned to meet the current and emerging needs of the chemical industry.
