This website is part of a Harvard School of Public Health's Center for Risk Analysis project aimed at helping consumers evaluate health and scientific information and consider how the information can be used to improve their lives. The project began when Professor Kimberly M. Thompson of the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis, Harvard School of Public Health began drafting the guide, Health InSight: Taking Charge of Health Information in November of 1998.
The project is supported by an educational grant from the Chlorine Chemistry Division of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) to the Harvard School of Public Health. ACC's Chlorine Chemistry Division comprises of chlorine and chlorinated product manufacturers.
Dr. Thompson worked with a Steering Committee consisting of organizations representing a wide range of constituencies. The Steering Committee provided invaluable input and guidance throughout the process. Members of the committee and their affiliations at the time of their contributions to this project include:
