Responsible Care® is a unique program that brings together environmental, health, safety, security, product stewardship, and value-chain management systems, whether pre-existing or still-in-development. These efforts are combined with a robust community outreach program and detailed performance metrics, to help drive continuous performance improvement in multiple areas.
Program enhancements, including mandatory management system certification by an accredited auditing firm, a model security code and publicly available performance metrics, have positioned the Responsible Care initiative to more actively capture efficiencies along the customer-value chain. These enhancements create a business value proposition: Responsible Care enables continuous performance improvements that go above and beyond government requirements, and the resulting activities and achievements can be converted into value-generating opportunities with federal, state and local governments; customers; suppliers and other stakeholders.
