Awards


The American Chemistry Council (ACC) recognizes the outstanding performance of Responsible Care® companies through an annual awards program. Awards are given to facilities, companies, and employees that distinguish themselves through exemplary performance during the prior year.

Awards are presented at ACC events, including the annual Responsible Care Conference and annual ACC membership meeting at the Greenbrier. There are four annual Responsible Care Awards and a Safety Certificate Program:

1.  Leader of the Year Award

This is awarded to an individual employee(s) of an ACC member company AND a Responsible Care Partner company.  These applications must be submitted by someone other than the person nominated.

2.  Leadership Award

This is awarded to an individual ACC member company, potentially one in each of three size categories.  Companies are screened based on that year’s performance metrics.  The ACC then informs the company of their qualification and then the company applies.

3.  Sustained Excellence Award

This is awarded to an ACC member company, potentially one in each of three size categories. Companies are screened based on that year’s performance metrics.  The ACC then informs the company of their qualification and then the company applies.

4.   Energy Efficiency Award

This is awarded at the ACC member company and facility level.

  • Nomination Process for the 2008 Responsible Care® Energy Efficiency Award Now Open - The Energy Efficiency Award Program gives members an opportunity to nominate for Council recognition their exceptional successes in conserving energy, reducing costs and mitigating CO2 emissions. The positive results of winning entries are core elements of our communications with the Administration, Congress and other policymakers about national energy policy and greenhouse gas emissions issues. 5.  Safety Performance Certificate

This is awarded at the ACC member company facility level.  All members may apply for these certificates by clicking the link above.

Applicable deadlines are as follows:

  • Safety Performance Certificates: March 1, 2009
  • Leader of the Year Award: March 16, 2009
  • Leadership Award: March 16, 2009
  • Sustained Excellence Award: March 16, 2009
  • Energy Efficiency Award: March 13, 2009
