Energy Efficiency

Measuring and managing energy efficiency of manufacturing facilities is an important step in conserving the world’s resources. With the price of oil rising as well as high prices for all energy inputs, our members are taking significant steps to ensure that every unit of energy is maximized.

Chemical product makers have achieved significant energy efficiency gains since the oil crises of the 1970s, when the industry began a series of improvements that continue today. Since then, U.S. chemical manufacturing has increased its energy efficiency by 47 percent, with many of the improvements coming from more energy-efficient products and processes.

This measure will highlight the industry’s progress in achieving continued improvements in energy efficiency ratings.

Responsible Care® companies have compiled their energy efficiency information, and public reporting of their progress in aggregate began in 2005. Data for all companies are aggregated to provide an overall view of ACC members’ annual performance.
