Chemical Products and Technology: Director

The position is responsible for managing all aspects of the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) North American Flame Retardant Alliance (NAFRA), which represents leading manufacturers of flame retardant solutions. As described below, responsibilities encompass advocacy, outreach, planning and administration in support of NAFRA’s objectives. The position works closely with internal and external stakeholders on cross-cutting policy issues. The position reports directly to the Vice President, Chemical Products and Technology (CPT).

CHEMTREC®: Director, Outreach and Special Programs

The position is responsible for enhancing CHEMTREC’s public and industry service brand by serving as the primary spokesperson for CHEMTREC’s public and industry service-related initiatives (e.g., TRANSCAER). The position is also responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in various government agencies, affiliated organizations, first responders, trade associations, ports, large carriers and other industry partners. The position reports directly to CHEMTREC’s Operations Center Director.

CHEMTREC®: Marketing Manager

The position is responsible for supporting the development and promotion of new services and managing current services with regards to value proposition, price and discounts. The position is also responsible for developing and implementing marketing campaigns, including email campaigns and trade shows, for generating leads and retaining customers. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Sales and Marketing.

Communications: Director, Product Communications

The position is responsible for providing strategic direction and communications services to the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) self-funded groups. The director will provide high-level project management expertise, outreach to news media and other stakeholders, create strategic communications plans, as well as oversee issue management and communication materials development for multiple product groups inside ACC’s organization. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Product Communications and coordinates with other product communications team members and ACC subject matter experts.

Communications: Manager, Member Communications

The position is responsible for supporting and assisting the development and execution of membership marketing and communications projects in partnership with the Office of the Chief of Staff and General Counsel. The position is also responsible for helping to maintain and service the membership ranks of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), including preparing meeting materials and presentations. The position works closely with the Membership and Business Development, as well as Meetings, Conferences and Program Development teams and reports directly to the Senior Director, Marketing and Digital Communications.

Communications, Sustainability and Market Outreach: Managing Director, Responsible Care

The position is responsible for leading and managing the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Responsible Care® program, the chemical industry’s world class environment, health and safety initiative. Working closely with the Executive Vice President and other members of ACC’s senior leadership team, this position will develop strategies to enhance the value of Responsible Care to ACC members and Responsible Care Partner companies and oversee the direction and execution of the key elements of the Responsible Care program (i.e., management systems certification, security, performance measures, and oversight functions). This position will support the ACC board of directors committee on Responsible Care, lead member company committees and workgroups and manage Responsible Care staff and consultants. The position reports directly to the Executive Vice President, Communications, Sustainability and Market Outreach.

Plastics: Director, Plastic Foodservice Packaging Group

The position is responsible for serving as the staff lead for the self-funded Plastic Foodservice Packaging Group (PFPG). This includes working with the committee to develop strategy. The position works with members to build consensus and identify advocacy opportunities, as well as provides hands-on management of a large number of state and local advocacy initiatives. The position is also responsible for managing all aspects of PFPG’s budget, effectively managing outside vendors, organizing member meetings and assisting the Chair or designated member company in their leadership of these calls. This position develops and maintains essential relationships with allied organizations and groups. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Packaging.

Plastics: Manager, Recycling and Recovery

The position is responsible for implementing programs that enable the plastics industry to achieve ambitious new plastics recycling and recovery goals. The position will help manage several member teams and implement advocacy, communications and technical programs on their behalf. The position will also lead collaborative programs with key plastics and waste and recycling value chain allies. The position is further responsible for providing oversight of key recycling and recovery pilot programs and technical projects and evaluating and analyzing plastics recycling/recovery metrics to track progress against ACC goals. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Recycling and Energy Recovery.

Plastics: Senior Director, Packaging

The position is responsible for serving as the senior staff lead for the Packaging Team and provides oversight to the self-funded Plastic Foodservice Packaging Group (PFPG) and Flexible Film Recycling Group (FFRG), including developing and providing strategic direction to the groups. The position works closely with members to build consensus and identify advocacy opportunities, as well as provides hands-on management of a large number of state and local advocacy initiatives. The position is also responsible for managing all aspects of the Packaging Team’s budget, effectively managing outside vendors, leading member meetings, as well as developing and maintaining essential relationships with allied organizations and groups along the packaging value chain. In addition the Senior Director manages PFPG and FFRG staff. The position reports directly to the Managing Director, Plastics.

Political Mobilization: Manager

The position is responsible for enhancing the advocacy efforts of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) by creating champions from targeted members of Congress through direct political engagement within their applicable districts. The position is also responsible for assisting and motivating member company facilities representatives to execute robust engagement in field-based political and grassroots activities. The position is located in Des Moines, Iowa.
