WASHINGTON (November 18, 2015) - The U.S. House of Representatives Energy & Commerce Committee unanimously voted to move forward with federal legislation that would phase out solid plastic microbeads used in rinse-off personal care products. The American Chemistry Council (ACC) issued the following statement in response:

"ACC commends bipartisan efforts by the U.S. House of Representatives Energy & Commerce Committee to establish a strong, consistent national standard to phase out solid plastic microbeads from rinse-off personal care products. We thank Chairman Fred Upton and ranking member Frank Pallone, Jr.-along with all Committee members-for their joint commitment to this important issue and look forward to a vote by the full House."
