WASHINGTON (April 24, 2015) - The American Chemistry Council (ACC) issued the following statement in response to the approval of the bipartisan "Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015" (TPA-2015) by the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance and the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means:

"ACC applauds members of the Senate Finance and House Ways and Means Committees for their bipartisan approval of TPA-2015. The vote comes just days after the bipartisan and bicameral bill's introduction, for which ACC and  our members expressed strong support.

"We commend Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) and their committee colleagues for moving this critical legislation forward and for helping the President complete strong U.S. trade agreements that will benefit American manufacturers and the economy.

"We urge the House and the Senate to take up this important legislation as soon as possible."

In statements submitted for the record to the Senate Finance Committee and House Ways and Means Committee in preparation for hearings this week on Trade Promotion Authority, ACC highlighted the chemical industry's strong support for the TPA-2015 bill as introduced.
