WASHINGTON (June 19, 2015) - The American Chemistry Council (ACC) issued the following statement today regarding the progress report provided by the interagency Working Group toward fulfilling their objectives under Executive Order 13650 , "Improving Chemical Facility Safety and Security" :

"We commend the Working Group on their progress and for working with stakeholders to improve federal efforts to help safeguard chemical facilities. Because of their critical role to the nation's economy and their responsibility to their employees and communities, ACC and its  members remain  committed to enhancing safety and security.  

"Last year, ACC joined with other industry organizations to  advise the interagency Working Group to pursue options that would improve regulatory coordination, information sharing and emergency planning. We are glad to see that the Working Group's latest report demonstrates solid progress in these key areas and focuses on fundamental issues that the Executive Order was created to address."
