WASHINGTON (June 17, 2013) - The American Chemistry Council recently launched advertisements commending Senator Joe Manchin for his support of policies that will build a strong manufacturing base in America.

"As one of America's largest manufacturing industries, we want to acknowledge Senator Manchin's leadership on issues that encourage strong domestic energy policy, support small businesses and promote rational, science-based chemical regulation-policies that will foster innovation, stimulate our economy and put people in West Virginia and across the country in good-paying jobs," explained Cal Dooley , President and CEO of the American Chemistry Council.

Dooley added, "Senator Manchin has worked across the aisle to develop historic, bipartisan legislation to reform chemical regulation in a way that enhances public health and encourages innovation, growth and job creation by West Virginia companies. Because the chemical industry plays an integral role in West Virginia's economy-employing over 9,500 West Virginians and investing $1.3 billion in new chemistry-related projects-it is critical for the state that we get chemical regulation right."

The advertisements will run on broadcast television in the Charleston-Huntington, Bluefield-Beckley, and Clarksburg-Weston media markets for three weeks and will encourage constituents to contact Senator Manchin's office to tell him to keep up the good work.
