WASHINGTON (Sept. 10, 2015) - U.S. Congressman Reid Ribble (R-WI-08) introduced the "Safe, Flexible and Efficient Trucking Act," today. The American Chemistry Council's (ACC) President and CEO  Cal Dooley issued the following statement regarding the introduction of this important legislation:

"We thank Congressman Ribble for his leadership and for introducing legislation that will improve how freight is moved by truck in the United States. This bipartisan legislation will help spur our economy by allowing the U.S. to move more freight more efficiently, reducing congestion on our highways while maintaining safety and preventing additional wear on roads and bridges. Furthermore, the bill will help save fuel and cut greenhouse emissions.

"Congressman Ribble's truck weight reform legislation will help fuel the renaissance in American industry that is bringing investment, manufacturing and jobs back to our country. The chemistry industry alone has announced over $150 billion in new factories, expansions and restarts in the coming years. Updating and maximizing U.S. truck standards will help meet current and future transportation needs of our industry, as well as the farmers, manufacturers and energy producers who depend on the business of chemistry."
