WASHINGTON (June 24, 2014) -
The American Chemistry Council (ACC) today urged House passage of
, the Lowering Gasoline Prices to Fuel an America That Works Act, introduced by Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (R-Wash.).
"We commend Chairman Hastings for introducing legislation that will unlock the vast areas of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) that have been off-limits since 2010 and require federal agencies to consider America's future energy needs in developing a national energy policy. We urge the House to approve the bill when it comes to the floor this week.
"Major changes in U.S. energy consumption are on the way. Expanded access to energy resources and improved federal planning and coordination will be needed to help our country successfully navigate these shifts. As part of an
all-of-the-above national energy policy
, this bill can help diversify the U.S. energy mix and support the manufacturing revival now underway."
H.R. 4899 would expand access to oil and natural gas resources in the OCS, streamline and accelerate permitting of onshore oil and natural gas development on federal lands and require the U.S. Department of the Interior to develop a four-year onshore energy strategy.
