WASHINGTON (April 10, 2018) – The American Chemistry Council (ACC) issued the following statement in its continued support for the Trump Administration’s nomination of Andrew Wheeler to be deputy administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency:

“Andrew Wheeler’s considerable experience in the environmental field and public service to our nation make him an excellent candidate for the deputy administrator position at EPA. In addition to his previous service at the agency under Republican and Democratic administrations, Mr. Wheeler worked for the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works for 12 years as staff director and chief counsel.

“We urge the Senate to confirm Mr. Wheeler without delay so that he can begin contributing to the important work EPA does to protect human health and the environment. His leadership and expertise, combined with the vital work already being done by Administrator Pruitt and the dedicated staff at EPA, will help the agency continue its important implementation of the 2016 amendments to the Toxic Substances Control Act and help ensure sound science is at the heart of its regulatory decision making.”
