WASHINGTON (July 11, 2013) - Anthony Foxx, former Charlotte Mayor, was sworn in at a special ceremony by Vice President Joe Biden today as the new Secretary of Transportation. Foxx was confirmed by a unanimous vote in the Senate on June 27.

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) issued the following statement in response:

"We welcome Secretary Foxx to his new position at the Department of Transportation. ACC and its members look forward to working with him to ensure the nation has a safe, efficient and effective transportation system in place so that our industry can continue to ship our products to meet the country's demands now and into the future. The business of chemistry creates the building blocks for 96 percent of all manufactured goods and we will look to Secretary Foxx to help create a system that will deliver these chemicals where they are needed from farms to factories.
