WASHINGTON (March 26, 2021)U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Susan Collins (R-ME) reintroduced the Innovative Materials for America’s Growth and Infrastructure Newly Expanded (IMAGINE) Act, which will help encourage the development and use of innovative materials to help rebuild and strengthen America’s infrastructure.

It will be the U.S. business of chemistry that will make many of these innovative construction materials and techniques possible. The chemical industry invests more in research and development than leading industries like electronics, automobiles and healthcare. Investing more than $10 billion in 2019.

The following statement in support of the IMAGINE Act can be attributed to the  American Chemistry Council’s President & CEO, Chris Jahn:

“Innovation must be at the forefront of the effort to rebuild America’s infrastructure. We commend Senator Whitehouse and Senator Collins for their determined leadership and for working with their colleagues to craft a bipartisan bill that will help drive investment and research in the development of advanced materials. Our members are ready to deliver the solutions for creating these advanced materials. Now we need Congress to pass the IMAGINE Act to clear the way for building a more resilient and sustainable infrastructure.”
