COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 5, 2012) - The American Chemistry Council (ACC) announced today at its annual business meeting that LyondellBasell Industries CEO Jim Gallogly will become the Council's newest board officer, effective January 1, 2013.

"A  sound energy policy that promotes innovation, competition and economic growth is of mission critical importance to ACC," said ACC President and CEO Cal Dooley . "As CEO of LyondellBasell, Jim Gallogly represents one of the world's largest plastics, chemical and refining companies. His insight, experience and leadership will help to ensure ACC's continued success as we pursue affordable energy security."

Following formal approval by the board of directors, Gallogly will first assume the role of Vice Chairman of the Board and chair of the Council's Board Finance, Audit and Membership Committee. He'll serve in this capacity for one year, followed by a one year term each as Chairman of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Board. Gallogly was first elected to ACC's board of directors in September, 2010.
