WASHINGTON (December 5, 2019)—ACC yesterday announced that Steve Russell, vice president of its Plastics Division, has decided to retire from ACC in early February. Mr. Russell, who led the Plastics Division for more than a decade, was an early and leading voice for advancing plastic sustainability and solutions to plastic waste. Most recently he played a crucial role in helping to conceive and operationalize the Alliance to End Plastic Waste. Mr. Russell will step down following ACC’s Board Meeting on February 7.

President and CEO Chris Jahn called Mr. Russell’s role in forming the Alliance “an extraordinary achievement in an exceptional career” and characterized Mr. Russell’s knowledge, expertise and relationships as “unparalleled in the industry.” Mr. Jahn announced that the firm Korn Ferry has been retained to assist in finding Mr. Russell’s successor.

Mr. Russell joined ACC in 1995 and has overseen the Division’s sustainability programs, scientific research and public outreach. Mr. Russell was instrumental in forming the World Plastic Council and in the expansion of the Global Plastics Alliance. Previously at ACC, he led the development and delivery of guidance on chemical management issues in state, federal and international venues, and also served as Senior Legal Counsel to ACC.
