Polyurethane Innovation Award Recognizes Exceptional Polyurethane Technologies and Practices
WASHINGTON (March 29, 2021) – Applications for the
Polyurethane Innovation Award are now being accepted through June 15, 2021. Presented by the
Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC), the Award is the top honor in the polyurethanes industry and recognizes companies and individuals whose vision and perseverance bring new innovative, life-enhancing products, technologies and initiatives to the marketplace.
“Complications from COVID-19 put a pause on the Innovation Award last year, but we are excited to continue the tradition of honoring the top pioneers in the polyurethanes industry,” said Lee Salamone, senior director, CPI. “Bringing to market innovative technologies and products doesn’t just happen overnight; it requires years of brainstorming, hard work, and perseverance. Then, there are those who go above and beyond to bring us remarkable, life-enhancing practices, products, and innovations. CPI looks forward to recognizing those whose work helps create a better today and sustainable tomorrow.”
The
2019 Polyurethane Innovation Award recipient was Carbon Inc., which was honored for its DLSTM Technology. The DLSTM Technology is utilized in the Riddell SpeedFlex Precision Diamond Football Helmet Liner. Through partnering with Riddell, Carbon used athlete data in Riddell’s proprietary database of 5 million head impacts to digitally print a next-gen helmet liner that precisely forms to the athlete’s head, giving the athlete maximum protection.
All entries for the 2021 Award are required to represent new innovations that have not been previously submitted for the Innovation Award. Eligible innovations include finished products, chemistries, initiatives, training or education programs, or processes and processing equipment that have entered the market, for the first time, between June 16, 2018, and June 15, 2021. Companies or individuals must submit an application no later than 5 p.m. EDT on June 15, 2021.
