David Binder Presented with Chairman's Award at Annual MA Hazmat Conference

The American Chemistry Councils (ACC) Eecutive Committee today elected two individuals to serve on its board of directors. The ACC Board of Directors sets council policy, provides overall strategic direction and approves advocacy priorities and the annual budget.


Foam Sheathing Insulation Group Joins Plastics Division for Enhanced Building Code Advocacy

Recognizing ACCs leadership role in advancing energy efficiency codes, the Foam Sheathing Coalition (an independent organization originally formed in 2007) has voted to become part of ACCs Plastics Division. At ACC the group will be known as the Foam Sheathing Committee, and will provide technical advocacy to support the benefits of plastic foam sheathing in new building codes offering significant opportunities for synergy with other code-related advocacy.


California Legislature Tables Proposed Foam Ban

A bill in California to ban polystyrene foam used for serving food was set aside by the state Assembly this week. Opponents of the ban cited the likely loss of jobs, epense to the state and unfair recycling rate requirements as flaws in the legislation.
