The Center for Biocide Chemistries (CBC) is helping federal, state, and local health agencies – as well as the general public – to fight back against the spread of COVID-19. Declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a “public health emergency of international concern,” CBC is playing an important role in this effort by providing a wide variety of information and resources to the public.
CBC’s COVID-19 resources are abundant and include information and guidance from its members, other industry organizations, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and many other agencies and industry organizations. CBC is focused on providing reliable, up-to-date information ranging from facts and safety information to protocols and guidelines for reopening a variety of public and private spaces.
For example, as a public service, CBC has compiled a list of more than 1,000 ready-to-use, dilutable, and wipeable biocidal products that are approved by EPA as effective at killing viruses like COVID-19. Listing is voluntary and CBC staff verify that each antimicrobial product is in compliance with EPA’s “emerging viral pathogen” guidance. CBC is working with federal and state officials to disseminate the list and make it accessible to the public.
