ACC Applauds Senate Defeat of NAT GAS Act Amendment

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) issued the following statement in response to the Menendez/Burr NAT GAS Act Amendment (1782) to the Senate Highway Bill (S. 1813), which the Senate today rejected on a vote of 51-47. The legislation would have etended ta credits for natural gas vehicles (NGVs) and the construction of related infrastructure.

More than 60,000 emergency responders across 37 states have received training in the safe handling and distribution of anhydrous ammonia by TRANSCAER (Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response), a voluntary national outreach effort that focuses on assisting communities in preparing for and responding to a possible hazardous material transportation incident.

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) today submitted written comments on a federal proposal to increase fuel efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in passenger automobiles and light trucks. The federal rulemaking is a joint effort of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and will increase Corporate Average Fuel Economy, or CAFE standards.
