Washington State is implementing a new chemical regulatory program called Safer Products for Washington (SPW). The first cycle of this new regulatory program includes regulations for organohalogen flame retardants (OFRs) used in external plastic enclosures for certain EEE products. These regulations include several exemptions that recognize critical uses of OFRs and that these substances can and should continue to be used where appropriate in a broad range of applications.
