New Model Energy Code to Boost Energy Efficiency of New and Renovated Homes and Buildings by 30 Percent

ACC applauded the International Code Council (ICC) for publishing the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). As this model code is adopted by states, it will help to improve the energy efficiency of new and renovated homes and commercial buildings by up to 30 percent over the 2006 version, using readily available technologies that are already being employed in construction every day.


Innovators in Plastics Recycling Honored

ACC announced the inaugural winners of its new Innovation in Plastics Recycling awards. Three companies: Aion International, Inc., Nepco Industrial Company Ltd., and Tre Company, were selected to receive awards. The winners, all of which have successful business models, are being recognized for developing high-performing, popular products using post-consumer recycled plastics.


CPI Announces New Leadership Team for the Spray Foam Coalition, Formerly Systems House Group

The Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) is pleased to announce the new leadership team of the Spray Foam Coalition, formerly called the Systems House Group. The coalition formally adopted its new name this month and elected Paul Duffy, vice president of engineering at Icynene, as chair and Peter Davis, president and CEO of Gaco Western, as vice chair.


ACC Applauds Bipartisan Vote in Senate for Chemical Security Legislation

Today, S.473, the Continuing Chemical Facilities Antiterrorism Security Act of 2011, won bipartisan approval in the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee. The bill was introduced by Ranking Member Susan Collins (R-ME) along with Senators Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Rob Portman (R-OH) and Mark Pryor (D-AR) and provides for a three year authorization of the eisting Chemical Facility Antiterrorism Standards (CFATS).
