Sarah Scruggs Brandt

Vice President, Communications & Public Affairs, American Chemistry Council

Sarah Scruggs Brandt serves as the American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs. Sarah leads nearly 20 communications staff and brings together communicators across ACC’s membership to help foster a collective, unified voice of the business of chemistry while advancing the industry’s science-based public policy agenda.

As part of her role, Sarah also focuses on enhancing the chemical industry’s reputation by increasing awareness of ACC member companies’ meaningful actions and contributions to overcoming pressing, environmental and sustainability challenges. Her efforts complement ACC’s overall goal of finding common ground with policymakers and ensuring the chemical industry can continue to innovate, create jobs, and help grow the economy.

Previously, Sarah was the Senior Director of Product Communications, where she oversaw the development and execution of strategic communications for ACC’s Chemicals Products and Technology Division self-funded groups. Sarah brings more than 15 years of experience leading public relations and public affairs campaigns and delivering bottom-line value to stakeholders.

She earned her B.A. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she studied journalism, advertising, and graphic design.

Sarah is from Alexandria, Virginia and resides with her family on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
