Use of Advanced Recycling Materials in Household Brands — Philadelphia Cream Cheese

Mondelēz partnered with SABIC, Plastic Energy, and Berry Global to produce Philadelphia Cream Cheese tubs in Europe made with recycled plastics made possible by advanced recycling. The Philadelphia brand is commercialized across Europe by Mondelēz International. Plastic Energy’s advanced recycling process converts hard-to-recycled plastics into recycled oils, called TACOIL, that can be used by SABIC in place of fossil oils, for plastics production. The new initiative is part of Mondelēz’s larger sustainability program, which includes using recycled content across all plastic packaging and using 100% recyclable packaging by 2025. The announcement also adds to Berry’s growing list of sustainability initiatives, including investments in mechanical and chemical recycling and a commitment to using recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging across 100% of its fast-moving consumer goods packaging by 2025.
