Each year, the American Chemistry Council (ACC) recognizes the chemical companies that are doing more than just good business — they’re making a difference. This year, ACC is excited to celebrate the 2025 Responsible Care® companies of the year: ExxonMobil Product Solutions Company and MEGlobal Americas Inc. (MEGlobal).

These two companies are setting the bar for what it means to lead with purpose in the chemical industry. From keeping workers safe and protecting the environment to showing up for their communities in meaningful ways, they’re proving that the world is made better by chemistry.

Safety First

Responsible Care’s foundation is safety. Both ExxonMobil and MEGlobal Americas have built strong cultures where safety isn’t just a priority — it’s a core value.

ExxonMobil continues their focus on improving safety by maximizing the effectiveness of their behavior-based safety program. This program helps ensure safe and effective safety operations by equipping team members with the right education, tools, and resources to share and apply learnings from operational experience and routine assessments. This approach has helped deliver sustainable, industry leading safety performance for ExxonMobil.

MEGlobal’s implementation of Responsible Care has had a profound impact on safety.  Since starting up in 2019 and receiving their RC14001 certification, they have safely operated with zero OSHA recordables or process safety events. Their “Don’t Skip a Step,” campaign helps employees and contractors by providing road safety kits and first aid kits.

Being a Good Neighbor

What does it mean to be a good neighbor? For these companies, it means rolling up their sleeves and getting involved—whether that’s mentoring students, volunteering, or supporting local nonprofits.

ExxonMobil invests in community engagement through volunteer and educational programs, like their Baton Rouge summer internship program, which gives students hands-on opportunities to explore engineering. Their new Youth Coalition Mentorship Program provides comprehensive mentoring, while their North Baton Rouge Industrial Training Initiative helps residents establish successful careers in skilled trades. Programs like Introduce a Girl to Engineering bring hundreds of students to engage with women in leadership roles and conduct science experiments, while Leaders Inspiring the Faces of Tomorrow (LIFT) supports sixth grade students through weekly math and science tutoring.

MEGlobal illustrates that small companies can have a major impact in their communities. Their community investments include supporting a new food pantry, providing scholarships for local high school students, and championing local United Way programs through employee-led fundraising and volunteer service days. In 2024, MEGlobal contributed more than $150,000 and donated more than 540 employee volunteer hours to local nonprofits. MEGlobal was also recognized as a 2025 Initiative of the Year winner for its Jetty Park Playground initiative. The playground is made from recycled plastic, promoting the importance of recycling while creating a safe recreational space for employees’ families and the broader community.

Enhancing Environmental Performance

Responsible Care companies take environmental performance seriously. And both of these companies are showing what it looks like to support a cleaner, healthier future for all.

ExxonMobil has made significant strides in reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency upgrades and low-carbon technologies. Their investment in carbon capture and storage capability is helping the company, and other industries, achieve large scale emissions reductions. On top of their advancement in operational performance, ExxonMobil is also innovating new materials to support a healthy environment, such as their Proxxima™ resins, which can reduce the overall weight of wind turbines, improve energy generation efficiency, and extend service time.

MEGlobal is embracing the Responsible Care ethos of continuous improvement, from increasing renewable energy usage and reducing wastewater to establishing recycling programs and promoting circularity. In 2023, MEGlobal moved to purchasing power only from renewable sources, leading to significant reductions in CO2 equivalent emissions. In 2024, their Oyster Creek operations were powered entirely by renewable energy, avoiding over 100,000 metric tons of emissions.

Why It Matters

Responsible Care® isn’t just a program, it’s a promise to strengthen safety, be a good neighbor, and enhance environmental performance. ExxonMobil Product Solutions and MEGlobal Americas Inc. are living that promise every day, and we’re proud to celebrate their achievements. Here’s to the 2025 Responsible Care® Company of the Year winners — thank you for showing us what leadership looks like in action.
