WASHINGTON (February 10, 2020) – The American Chemistry Council’s (ACC) Board of Directors approved the addition of two new Responsible Care® Partner companies – Matchmaker Logistics, Inc.and Packwell– at its February meeting in Washington, D.C.

ACC extends the Responsible Care ethic and management practices throughout the entire chemical supply chain through its Responsible Care Partnership Program, which is open to companies that have direct, substantial involvement in the distribution, transportation, storage, use, treatment, disposal or sales and marketing of chemicals.

“Responsible Care is a commitment to excellent environmental, health, safety and security performance, not only in our manufacturing operations, but also all along the chemical industry supply chain,” said ACC President and CEO Chris Jahn. “I am pleased to welcome Matchmaker Logistics and Packwell to the Responsible Care Partnership Program as we continue to extend the ethic and discipline of Responsible Care.”

Matchmaker Logistics, Inc., based in Wilmington, N.C., is a transportation broker specializing in the shipment of chemicals throughout and between the United States, Canada and Mexico.

“At Matchmaker Logistics, we always strive to incorporate best industry practices into our systems,” said Matchmaker Logistics President Bob Skane. “We are honored to be accepted into the Responsible Care program by the ACC and look forward to continued improvement. It is our mission to build the most robust processes to ensure safe transport of our customers’ product.”

Packwell, based in La Porte, Texas, has been a provider of packaging and logistics services in the Houston area for the past 34 years.

“Safety and security have always been key at Packwell. We are excited to be part of a program that addresses the environment as well. It will keep us informed of best industry practices. It’s a win-win for everyone involved,” said Packwell President Al Duran.

The more than 100 Responsible Care Partners adhere to the same Responsible Care requirements as ACC members, and their CEOs have made a commitment to uphold the Responsible Care Guiding Principles.

Similar to ACC chemical manufacturing members, Responsible Care Partner companies must implement all elements of the Responsible Care initiative. These include implementing the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS® or RC14001®), having their management system certified by an accredited auditing firm, reporting sector-specific performance measures, and meeting Security Code, Product Safety Code and Process Safety Code requirements.
