WASHINGTON (May 30, 2023) — American Chemistry Council (ACC) President and CEO Chris Jahn issued the following statement after Congress and the Biden administration reached a bipartisan agreement to raise the nation’s debt ceiling that includes important provisions on permitting reform.

“We applaud Congress and the Biden administration for reaching a bipartisan agreement that achieves progress on permitting reform. Timely and efficient review of energy infrastructure projects is imperative if our nation wants to ensure a reliable and resilient energy delivery system, secure supply chains, diverse energy sources and technologies, and a competitive and innovative U.S. manufacturing sector. The agreement includes important provisions to improve the process. We encourage Congress and the Administration to continue working on improvements to the inefficient permitting process for industrial projects. We will continue to engage with policymakers of both parties as they proceed with this vital work.”
