WASHINGTON (May 8, 2026) – The American Chemistry Council (ACC) welcomes the Federal Aviation Administration’s proposed rule to restrict unauthorized drone activity around critical infrastructure. It will help strengthen the security of facilities that are essential to the U.S. economy and supply chains, while addressing the growing risks posed by unauthorized drone operations.
Unauthorized drone activity over chemical facilities presents real and evolving security challenges. This proposal is a step in the right direction to help close long-standing gaps by putting clearer protections in place and giving authorities stronger tools to keep restricted airspace secure.
ACC looks forward to continuing our work with the FAA and relevant federal partners to support a final rule that is risk-based and delivers effective protections for critical infrastructure, particularly for chemical facilities. We are conducting a review of the proposal and plan on submitting comments and recommendations during the rulemaking process.
