Personal Protective Equipment General Recommendations for Automotive Refinish Coating Applications 

High performance polyurethane coatings used in automotive refinishing applications typically consist of isocyanates and a variety of organic solvents, pigments, stabilizers, and other additives. Because all these chemicals can present potential health hazards like irritation and sensitization, it is important to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during the painting process to prevent exposure to these chemicals from skin contact or breathing in vapors.
