This week, ACC and Eastman brought Responsible Care® to life in Longview, Texas. The two-day Responsible Care Roadshow connected employees, community leaders, educators and first responders around a shared goal: strengthening safety, workforce development and community partnership in Longview.

The Roadshow kicked off with employee town halls at Eastman’s Longview facility, empowering employees to become advocates for the industry by deepening their understanding of Responsible Care and the issues shaping the future of chemical manufacturing.

“Responsible Care starts with our employees, who put safety and care for one another into practice every day, both inside our facility and throughout the community. By sharing our story and listening to our neighbors, we build the trust and relationships that help Longview remain safe, strong and resilient,” said Clent Holmes, Global Public Affairs Manager.

On day two, the focus expanded from the facility to the broader Longview community. Highlights included:

  • A conversation with Eastman’s Community Advisory Panel about Responsible Care, site priorities and the issues that matter most to the community.
  • A community panel at VeraBank featuring Daniel Forest, Director, Responsible Care Member Services; Longview Fire Chief Greg Grimes; and Andrew Coggins, Eastman Vice President of Texas Operations. Together, they explored how strong partnerships can enhance emergency preparedness, build public trust, and strengthen community resilience.
  • A discussion about Eastman’s Work-Based Learning initiative and the Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI), whose board is chaired by Eastman Board Chair and CEO, Mark Costa. The discussion also recognized FOSSI alumni, Ethan White who has joined Eastman full time.
  • A $5,000 contribution from The Foundation for Chemistry Research and Initiativesto Longview World of Wonders in support of its efforts to expand STEM learning opportunities for children across East Texas.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the entire Eastman team for their generous hospitality and for opening their doors to ACC. The opportunity to engage with, listen to and learn from the people of Eastman and Longview reinforced a message heard throughout the Roadshow: Responsible Care is powered by people. By working together, employees and community partners are helping build a safer, stronger Longview.
