WASHINGTON (April 20, 2022) – The American Chemistry Council (ACC) has just released the 2022 edition of its statistical reference book on plastic resins, Resin Review. This annual publication presents industry data compiled from members of ACC’s Plastics Industry Producers’ Statistics Group and other sources and represents an authoritative resource for analyzing and understanding the U.S. plastic resins industry.
The 2022 edition contains detailed tables on North American resin production, sales, industry capacities and utilization rates from 2011-2021. Sales data for major thermoplastic resins are segmented into end-use markets from 2017-2021, and historical data on U.S. plastics production, sales and captive use illustrate key trends from 1973 to 2021.
The publication explains the basic chemistry and manufacturing processes for plastics and includes material flow and monomer derivatives diagrams. It also details the history of plastics development and provides a glossary of basic plastics terms.
