WASHINGTON (May 23, 2023) – The following statement responds to ABC News Live’s recent story on film recycling and may be attributed to Joshua Baca, vice president of plastics at the American Chemistry Council:

Joshua Baca, Vice President of Plastics
America’s plastic makers are investing billions of dollars in new recycling technologies and creating products that are more recyclable, durable and dependable. Our goal is to make the planet cleaner and healthier for generations to come. Our world will only get to a sustainable circular economy by collaborating and coming together to achieve the economies of scale necessary to convert what today is waste into new products. This cannot be accomplished unless we are willing to engage in open dialogue and listen to both concerns and solutions. ACC remains committed to providing real solutions that will reduce plastic waste.
