WASHINGTON, DC (December 2, 2025) – U.S. production of major plastic resins totaled 8.3 billion pounds during October 2025, a decrease of 1.2 percent compared to the prior month, and a decrease of 1.9 percent compared to the same month in 2024, according to statistics released today by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Year-to-date production was 85.1 billion pounds, a 0.8 percent increase as compared to the same period in 2024.
Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 9.0 billion pounds during October 2025, a 1.7 percent increase compared to the prior month, and an increase of 9.0 percent from the same month one year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use were 86.0 billion pounds, a 2.5 percent increase as compared to the same period in 2024.
