Our Impact
FSC advocates for foam plastic insulating sheathing (FPIS) manufacturers through engaging in these four core areas:
Codes and Standards
FSC engages in building code and standards development processes that affect the use of FPIS in the market. This includes advocating for foam sheathing being represented accurately in technical discussions, supported by sound science, and recognized as a compliant, high-performing solution in the building envelope.
Technical Leadership and Research
FSC supports the development of technical resources on the application of foam sheathing. This includes Quick Guides, FACTS Sheets, code compliance tools, research reports, and other technical materials that translate complex code concepts into guidance for practical applications.
Sustainability and Decarbonization
FSC works to promote the carbon-saving benefits of FPIS products as a solution to building decarbonization. This includes efforts to communicate the relationship between embodied carbon and operational carbon reduction benefits of insulation as a crucial energy-efficient building technology, monitor emerging carbon accounting and regulatory frameworks, and support the development of tools and resources that properly reflect total carbon performance of FPIS products.
Education
FSC fosters outreach to help improve understanding of foam sheathing among builders, designers, educators, code officials, and other stakeholders. Through technical content, digital resources, and communications, FSC helps expand awareness and strengthen confidence in foam sheathing applications.
